Last lot of Christmas nail art

Sadly the season is over. I would have liked more time to do Christmas nail art, but this will have to be the last of it until next year.

As soon as I saw "Sweet Baby Jesus" by Lilypad Lacquer it reminded me of glistening snow, so I had to do some snow flakes over the top, even though it's not winter here. I used Konad blue and plate m59.

"Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree" had to have a Christmas Tree stamp over the top! Awesome close up of the glittery "O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree" by Miss Ashleigh!  :)  The Christmas tree stamp is from unknown brand of stamping plates that was a gift, so if you're wondering what plate it is I am sorry, I don't know but it seems to be a generic brand of some sorts.

Lastly I am going to share a nail fail. Sadly my candy cane stamping didn't work out as well as I had hoped, so use your imagination and pretend that the stamping is even. I have a close up shot of the nail that turned out the best but is still a little wonky. For my base colour I used Sally Hansen "Cherry Red" and stamped over the top with Konad white polish and BM-423.

Season of Giving

I almost forgot this PrettyPots Polish called "Season of Giving." This was a very special polish as it was a free polish for Christmas - The season of giving.

This is another unique polish from PrettyPots with a grey back packed with green micro glitters that give they grey base a greenish tint. This polish is packed with a bunch of different glitters  including pink and gold hex, and white stars. All the glitter in this polish made it a bit thick and clumpy as I was getting more glitter than anything else. For my swatch I used two to three coats plus two coats of SV over the top to smooth it all out.

Miss Ashleigh Seasons Greetings Duo

Miss Ashleigh's Seasons Greetings Duo includes a stunning thermal and a beautiful glitter.

"Pa Rum Pum Pum Plum." This is such a beautiful scattered holo thermal and it has an amazing formula, just two coats with a top coat. When it is cold it is pink as it gets hotter is gets lighter until it is a totally silver white holo. I had so much fun with this thermal! I first tried the thermal effect under water. Then it was so hot that it practically stayed white with the tips occasionally showing shades of pink when the air con kicked in. Unfortunately because the weather has been so hot I couldn't get a photo when it was totally cold. I dipped my nails into ice cold water but as soon as I took my nails out of the water the colour started transitioning back to white.

"O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree." For this I layered two coats (with some extra glitters dabbed on top) over "Kryptonite" by Miss Ashleigh (Kryptonite and other thermals by Miss Ashleigh will be up soon). This gave a little glitter to the thermal, and a little thermal to the glitter. The base for this one had a slight green tint that was quite thin, almost too thin, but it was still really pretty and perfect to layer over an opaque green.

December What's In-die Box?

I hope everyone that ordered their What's In-die Box for December has received them so that there are no surprises here.

This months theme was The Festive Season. Again, another great collection of unique polishes!

First up is "Pinklebells" by Peita's Polish. A beautiful glittery pink with a touch of silver holo. This one was a bit thick because of all the glitter but it was workable. For my swatch I used two coats with a top coat.

"You're a Mean One Mr Grinch!" by Glam Polish. So bright with just a little bit of sparkle. Amazing formula, just two coats with top coat.

My Favourite from this months box is "She's gone orna-mental" by Powder Perfect. At first it just looked like a sparkly blue polish, but at a closer look it had little bits of green and purple as well. It kind of reminds me of a peacock, so beautiful. For my swatch I used three thin coats with a top coat.

Next up is the delicious "Drowned in Custard" by Deadset Babes. A creamy light yellow with tiny red, green, gold, and silver glitters.  This is my first polish from Deadest Babes, and I am quite impressed. Only two coats with a top coat.

"Sweet Baby Jesus" by Lilypad Lacquer. Absolutely stunning but so difficult to capture. A white-blue sparkle that reminds me of snow. I layered two thin coats over white with a top coat.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

Christmas Tag

Hello and Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday.

Today I have decided to do something a little different. I saw a Christmas tag post by Ten Little Nubs and decided to join in and share a few of my favourite things about Christmas.

Here we go...

What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
I love the atmosphere around Christmas time, and spending Christmas eve with my family at my grandmothers house.

When you were a kid, what did you leave for Santa on Christmas Eve?
The typical biscuits and milk, and for the reindeer we left out a bucket of water and some carrots. In the morning the biscuits and milk would be gone. The carrots would be eaten with just the ends left over and the water would be gone too. I remember one year my dad got alpaca poo from the neighbours yard and said that it was left their by the reindeer (at this point I was a little bit older).

Do you and/or your family have any Christmas Traditions?
Every year we go to my grandparents house for Christmas. My grandfather is originally from Poland so my extended family has carried on some Polish traditions including celebrating on Christmas eve and sharing Oplatek.

When decorating, do you go all out or just do a small amount of decorating?
When I was younger we just had a few decorations, Christmas tree, a string of lights outside, and a few other little things around the house. When I moved to America that all changed. Now we go all out with decorations. Lights all over the house and a full on Christmas village inside.

What is your favourite Christmas food?
I don't think I have a favourite Christmas food. There are foods that we have at Christmas but also at other times of the year, so they are not Christmas specific foods, does that still count? At Christmas I particularly enjoy prawns, marinated chicken wings, and Roses chocolates.

What is your favourite Christmas movie?
Pretty much every Christmas movie is a good one but my favourites would probably be A Christmas Story, or The Santa Clause.

What is your favourite Christmas song?
I don't think I have a favourite Christmas song, but when I was younger we always used to listen to Neil Diamonds Christmas album so to me that is the sound of Christmas.

What was your favourite gift you ever received?
I don't even know! As a young kid I remember being excited about a lot of presents, like dolls and other toys just like any little kid would.  I remember one year I was very excited to get my very first mobile. A few years ago, when I was living in America, my parents brought me my high school class ring. I still wear it every day and hardly ever take it off, it is a great memory of my time in America.

What is your favourite Christmas memory?
The first thing that pops into my head is simply spending Christmas Eve with the family. But then I think about my first Christmas in America with our exchange student from Denmark. Then the year we had a white Christmas in the mountains, snowboarding, decorating gingerbread cookies, and playing board games by the fire.

Does it snow where you live?
Not here in Australia, as it is summer. It doesn't even snow here in the winter. When I lived in America there was flurries of snow my first Christmas but it didn't stick. One year we went up to the mountains with our friends to stay in their cabin and we had a very white Christmas!

Do you own an "Ugly holiday sweater"?
Nope. It is summer here so no need for a sweater. Even when I lived in America I didn't have a Christmas sweater.

Hot chocolate or eggnog?
I'm not really a big fan of either of them, and it is summer so it is also too hot. I am happy just drinking water.

Have you ever been kissed under a mistletoe?
Nope. Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever actually seen mistletoe. If  I have I didn't recognise it.

That's it! I hope you liked this post for a little change and that you liked learning a little it about my Christmas.   :)    Let me know if you do this tag too, I would love to read it!

Merry Christmas everyone!

-Bettina

I am way behind in my nail posts so hopefully over the next two days I will be able to catch up with all my swatches and Christmas nail art before I have to go back to work.

Christmas Polish!

For Christmas 2013 Femme Fatale came out with three Christmas polishes, but I decided to just get two of them. I got "Tree Disguise Kit" and "Snowy Bramble."

"Tree Disguise Kit" is exactly what a Christmas tree in a bottle should look like - Amazing! I dabbed two really thin coats over "Green-Wich Village" by O.P.I. A thin, dark green jelly base with a bit of shimmer, packed with green bar glitters and different sized holo dots. I found some of the bar glitters to be a bit annoying, so that required a little patience but over all the formula wasn't too bad.

"Snowy Bramble" is like a white Christmas version of "Tree Disguise Kit" but with stars, absolutely AMAZING! I dabbed two thin coats over "Baby's Got the Blues" by Miss Ashleigh. And just because this looked so amazing it decided to be a hard one to photograph, of course! I got heaps of compliments on this while I was at work :)

Miss Conduct

It's Super pretty, it's super sparkly, it's Orly's "Miss Conduct."

In the past I had seen so many pretty swatches of this polish that when I saw it on a blog sale I had to get it! This one was a lot more pink than I was expecting it to be (in a good way) with a wonderful scattered holo. For my swatch I used three thin coats and a top coat.

Polish Addict Nail Color

Today I have been wearing "Spring Equinox" by Polish Addict Nail Colour, an American indie brand. I got this polish ages ago in an awesome nail mail package but haven't worn it until now. This polish is a dusty coral colour with holo silver hex glitters and tiny green/gold glitter. The only complaint about this polish is that the formula is quite thin so I needed four coats to reach opacity. On the bight side it wasn't at all thick or clumpy, even after four coats. The colour looks much brighter in sunlight and has more of a dust colour inside.

Getting into the Christmas Spirit

It's that time of year again! Time for some Christmas nail art featuring some awesome Aussie indie polishes, with lots of glitter!

First up, candy cane inspired nails. Bright and super sparkly red stripes with glitter accent and candy cane stamp. The indie polish featured here is my new favourite glittery red "Kevin!" by Powder Perfect Polish. I also used Sally Hansen "Cherry Red" and Konad white stamping polish.

Next up, sparkly Christmas tree! I used three different Aussie indies for this one. For my base I used one really thin coat of "Christmas Treats" by PrettyPots Polish over white. For my Christmas tree I used a combination of "Decorate a Palm Tree" by Powder Perfect Polish and "Conjuring" by Glam Polish. I love this one!
