Nails for New Years

My nails for bringing in the new year feature the new 18k gold top coat by O.P.I.. "Don't Speak" by O.P.I. has fine gold flakes and tiny iridescent glitters that mostly reflect gold. I layered one coat over black and added a glossy top coat. This is the first time I have used it and I wasn't entirely aware of how fine the flakes were.  Layering it over black looked better in my head. Next up I plan on layering it over a deep royal purple, but it might take awhile before I get around to doing it.

Moscow by Picture Polish

One of my indulgent buys from earlier this month was "Moscow" by Picture Polish. Firstly, I love the image on the front bottle, but most importantly, it's such an amazing colour with a subtle shimmer. Thanks to all the overcast days we have been having here I didn't get the chance to take a photo in direct sunlight. I brought this polish because I like to wear these types of dark reds to purple shades on days when I am not doing any swatching and when I don't feel like doing any nail art (or don't have the time). Most of the time it is on days when I have to work. Anyway, it's a great polish, just two thin coats and a glossy top coat shown.

After wearing this shade to work I was inspired by The Nailasaurus to add some chevrons when I got home.  I used "My Vampire Is Buff" by O.P.I. I the simple and sophisticated look (Sammy is great at coming up with these simple yet elegant combinations and I often look to her nail art for inspiration).

I have recently brought some other Picture Polish shades which I can't wait to swatch and use in some nail art over the new year!

Shades of Phoenix Christmas Trio 2014

I hope everyone has had a fantastic Christmas and is now starting to settle back down and catch up on some sleep. Only a few more days left until the end of the year! This Christmas I had to treat myself and get the Christmas trio by Shades of Phoenix!! It is such a perfect trio, I love the diversity of the shades and that they can even be worn all year round.

"Tinsel Tease" over "Rouge" (both by SOP). This one is such a delicate glitter topper with tiny white, silver and iridescent glitters. Simple and sparkly! This is the mani I wore one Christmas Eve for my family get together.

"Xmas Fling" three coats with a glossy top coat. Green, red and pink glitters of various sizes in a soft green crelly base. It's like Christmas has been bottled in polish form!

"Holly Crush" three coats plus a glossy top coat. This one has tiny light pink, pink and oragne glitters in a soft pink base. I love this one, it's even great as an all year round polish.

"Golden Ring" over "Midnight Sky" (both by SOP). I was lucky enough to also get my hands on this limited edition Christmas polish. This one is a glitter topper with a loads of yellow, orange, and gold glitters.

These were the only Christmas polishes that I brought this year, but I think this cute little trio (plus one) was a great combination of shades.

Christmas Nail Art

I can't believe it is Christmas already! Time has just flown by so quickly. I did manage to get a small amount of Christmas nail art done, but it is such a busy time of the year I didn't get as much done as I had planned. Here are three of the Christmas mani's that I have done...

Candy cane striped nail art using Bundle Monster stamping plate BM-423 over "Beginning to look a lot like Xmas" by Powder Perfect.

"Tree Disguise  Kit" was a limited edition Christmas polish from 2014 by Femme Fatale. This polish is a Christmas tree in a bottle! I layered it over "Jade is the New Black" by O.P.I..

I then went Christmas crazy and added heaps of water decals from the Born Pretty Store over the top of "Tree Disguise Kit."  It is a major Christmas over load, but maybe in a good way.

One of my last Christmas nail art manis was a simple gold using "You and Me (But Mostly Me)" by Glam Polish, then adding some Christmas flower water decals from the Born Pretty Store over the top.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas, and I wish everyone a safe and happy new year!

Holiday by piCture pOlish

This year Picture Polish released a limited edition holiday polish, called "Holiday"! I managed to get my hands on a  numbered bottle. I got bottle no. 84. Hopefully it's a lucky number! "Holiday" is a stunning polish with fine holo glitter and a rainbow of flakies. I layered it over "Evening Amethyst" by Alanna Renee. I am in love, it is a breath taking polish. This isn't a very wordy post, but there are plenty of photos!

Born Pretty Store - The Best Place For Nail Art Supplies

I recently received a big order of nail art products from the Born Pretty Store. These following three items were sent to review, and I have heaps more stuff that I order to get through as well.

First up are these adorable gold rose nail studs. I placed these rose nail studs over a pink and white plastic wrap mani. I used "Pink Friday" by O.P.I., "Snow Me White" by Sinful Colors, and "Strawberry Crepe" by PrettyPots Polish. I love how this turned out, so pretty.

Multichrome nail studs. I used "The Thing You Love Most" by Glam Polish for my base then stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM-319 and Konad black stamping polish. These nail studs are fantastic. They came in a nail art wheel with various sizes. They can be used over so many different manis.

Cats in space! I love these cute little kitten water decals. I decided to place them over a pastel blue and purple galaxy design. For the galaxy nails I used "Baby's Got the Blues" by Miss Ashleigh and "Wisteria" by Picture Polish, I then added some stars using an unknown stamping plate and "Snow Me White" by Sinful Colors. I then finished it off with "Fairy Dust" by China Glaze. I love these cats, they are so cute!  Perfect for a crazy cat and nail lady!!

Life of Pi Duo by Glam Polish

WOW! Simply wow! This is a limited edition duo by Glam Polish that is exclusive to Mei Mei's Signatures. There are only 30 sets available. I am a little late with my blog post about this duo and I know that it has been selling fast, last I read there was only 7 sets available. Do not miss out on these! I am blown away by how amazing they are. The silver is now my new favourite silver and the gold is perfect for Christmas.

"Life is a Story" - a crazy gold glitter with holographic gold glitter and flakies. This one has an amazing rainbow holographic effect in direct sunlight! For my swatch I used three thin coats plus a glossy top coat.
