Superstar Collection by Ulta3

The Superstar Collection by Ulta3 features 6 metallic polishes, and 4 lip stick shades. I got this collection awhile ago, and I tried one of the polishes the next day... I wasn't very impressed.  So I put off swatching the collection, until now.  A quiet and overcast Sunday, a nice day to do some indoor swatching. I found the polishes to be strictly one coat. Two coat, even two thin coats, was too much and made it look thick and gloppy. The formula was very streaky and needed delicate application. The finish was metallic, but also dried slightly matte.  Each of my swatches shows one coat with out a top coat.

The collection also came with some nail art accessories. Including nail art stickers and stencils.

The nail art stencils worked quite well. For the base I used "Plutonic." For the stars I used "Galactic" and then I finished with a glossy top coat.

I used "Comet" as the base for some of the delicate nail art stickers. The stickers didn't have a great adhesive on them and the moon stuck up off the nail more than I would like.

"Meteorite" was used as the base for the laser beam nail stickers. These stickers were very delicate and bubbled underneath a top coat.

The collection also includes 4 shades of lipstick. Each of the shades has a slight shimmer to it which gives them a little something special!  Left to right: Shooting Star, Moonlight Mauve, Crescent Moon, Supernova.

Fancy Nails Product Review

I was sent some fantastic product to review from Fancy Nails. Fancy Nails is a Sydney based nail art supply shop with a variety of goodies including, polish, nail polish wraps, fake nails, glitters, and tools such as nail files and cuticle pushers.

The first thing I tried was the 7 way nail file and buffer. Each side has its steps numbered on it with a cute little nail picture, I guess you could kind of call it a nail emoji. The steps listed are...
Step 1: File nail tips. Step 2: Sharpen nail sides. Step 3: Even out. Step 4: Even out (again, but with a finer grain). Step 5: Smooth. Step 6: Buff. Step 7: Shine. No need for 7 different nail files with this all in one... It's going in my travel nail kit.

I was sent two different nail wraps. I don't usually wear this sort of thing because I am always painting my nails, and there is no point in wearing something like this when it can last more than a week. It was a bit of a nice change of pace to leave something on my nails for a few days. I tried to see how long they would last, but I gave up and took them off after about 4 days... I just had to paint my nails! They were easy to apply and shape to my nails. They seemed to last a long time (yes, 4 days for me is a long time). There was very little tip ware and no lifting up on the sides. I did seal it in with a good quality top coat, so that might have made a bit of difference. Overall, for a product that I'm not overly familiar with using I was quite impressed. I was worried that I would make a mess of applying them and that they would peel right off after a day or so.

The first up are these cute Smurfs nail wraps.

Next are these beautiful sparkly lace design nail wraps.

Lastly, and most exciting (in my opinion) are these wearable nail soakers! I didn't even know that there was a place in Australia that you could get these from! These are perfect for removing glitter polish - no more foil! I'm sure most of you would be familiar with the foil method for removing glitter polish (if not check out this tutorial by CutePolish), this pretty much eliminates the need for the foil, which I find to be the most annoying, fiddly, and wasteful part.

They look super dorky when you are wearing them, as my mother kindly pointed out, but they work brilliantly (take that mum!). I removed the nail wraps that I was wearing and then went on to impress my mother by removing the chunky glitter polish I had used on her nails a few days earlier.  They are super easy to use and it works well too.

New Friends to add to my Shades of Phoenix Collection

I have collected a lot of SOP polishes. Unfortunately, my own personal collection takes a back seat to my swatching for brands. On the bright side, I almost always have something new to try! I have caught up on some of my SOP polishes, and I'm combining it into one HUGE blog post!

"Midnight Sky" - A beautiful dark navy blue with a sprinkling of holographic dust. A simple favourite.

"ICE" - A FaceBook group limited edition polish. A variety of icy blue glitters layered over "Midnight Sky."

"Rouge" - Another favourite. A sexy red with a dusting of holo glitter.

"Fire" - The other half of the FB limited edition duo. A red jelly base with a variety of red/pink glitters. One coat layered over "Rouge."

The next lot of polishes is my own personal duo. This duo started at a custom sample sale, and I just loved the glitter combination so much I had to make two polishes out of it. This duo is kind of like my own little tribute to my all time favourite SOP polish, "Dionysus."  Dionysus is the Greek god of the grape harvest, wine, and theater. Put this all together and you have a party! So my duo is inspired by the festivals held in ancient Greece to honor Dionysus, wine, and theater.

"When the Gods Party" - For the colourful festivals. A rainbow of glitters in a clear holographic base. Layered over a silver holographic polish.

Next up is the 2014 Valentines duo.

I also added a matte top coat!

I brought this trio a long time ago, and like some of the other polishes featured in this post, I think I have worn one or two of them before, but never actually took photos of them. So I hope I have done these polishes justice by finally taking and posting photos of them.

"Morpheus" - Dark blue with little glitters.

I have also picked up some sample polishes. I can never resist a SOP sample sale, I always end up buying something!

A blue crelly, slightly more on the creme side, with blue, pink, and black glitters. I believe this is a prototype for what was "Little Miss Bad" from SOP's first What's Indie Box contribution. When I saw "Little Miss Bad" and knew I had missed out I was devastated! I was so happy to get my hands on this polish, it is amazing! For my swatch I used just two coats, but could have almost used just one!
