Egyptian Themed Swatches & Nail Art

I have just returned from an amazing holiday to Egypt. I saw so many incredible things and it really was an adventure of a life time. In the excitement leading up to my trip to Egypt I was inspired to do some Egyptian themed nail art, as well as use polishes by Powder Perfect that were inspired by ancient Egypt. Now that I'm back home and recovering from jet lag I have spent the day going through my swatches and nail art, edited the photos, and now written my blog post (It's been a productive day).  So, without further ado... Egyptian nails!

"Divine Pharaoh" - One of my newish polishes from Powder Perfect. A holographic silver base with flecks of gold. In ancient Egypt the Pharaoh was more than the king, they believed that he was more like a god. So does that mean that this is the polish of the gods?

Stamping plate Powder Perfect - Egypt 1. I love this simple design.

"Horus" - A deep holographic red. My favourite out of my recent purchase from Powder Perfect.

I then stamped over the top with stamping plate is Powder Perfect Egypt 1 and "Light Taupe" stamping polish by Emily de Molly.

I loved this polish so much that I used it as the base for another stamping design. Again, I used the Egyptian stamping plate by Powder Perfect, with "Holo Silver" stamping polish by Emily de Molly. Since, this polish is called Horus, I needed to incorporate him into my nail art, so the god stamped on my ring finger is, of course, Horus!

"Weighing The Heart" -  A holographic pink with extra sparkle! I brought this polish purely because of the name. The weighing of the heart is part of a Pharaohs judgement after he has died. The Pharaoh's heart was weighed against a feather, if his heart was lighter than the feather it meant that he had lead a good life and could pass through to the after life.

More stamping using the Egyptian stamping plate by Powder Perfect.  On my ring finger is Anubis, the god of mummification and the afterlife. On my other nails I have the lotus flower.

For this mani I created a subtle gradient using "Divine Pharaoh" and "Abydos" by Powder Perfect, except on my ring finger I have one thing coat of "Divine Pharaoh" over the top of "Abydos" for a more solid base.

For the stamping I used the image of King Tut's mask from Mo You London Explorer 02 stamping plate. The other patterned design is from Powder Perfect Egypt 1 stamping plate.  I used "Black" stamping polish by Emily de Molly.

I then went in and did some lead lighting using "Cerulean" by Powder Perfect to resemble the stunning blue and gold stripes on King Tut's mask.

"Thebes" - A brunt orange holographic micro glitter. One of my older Egyptian themed polishes by Powder Perfect.

This burnt orange makes the perfect background colour for a sunset silhouette of the pyramids and the sphinx, with of course, camels and palm trees. The perfect Egyptian scene. For this mani I used Powder Perfect Egypt 1 stamping plate with "Black" stamping polish by Emily de Molly.

As usual I have saved my favourite for last. I used "Divine Pharaoh" as my base (again), because it is such a pretty polish! But this time I reached for my Egyptian themed stamping plate from Emily de Molly - EDM08, along with "Black" stamping polish by EdM.

I then went in with lead lighting polishes to create the colourful desert scene. I used "Cerulean" "Illuminate" and "Medieval" by Powder Perfect.

Bird Nail Art

Waiting for inspiration to strike as I look through my stamping plates, and then an image of a bird... and I thought to myself, I can do something with that. So after I selected my image I grabbed a bunch of random polishes, not really knowing what I wanted to use yet, and set to work. At no point during this nail art session did I have a plan in mind of what I wanted the end product to look like. Some times I enjoy working this way, you never know what you might end up with. Other times I like to have a plan or an image in my head of what I'm doing, this was not one of those times. The product that I ended up using are: Creative Shop 27 stamping plate, "Sky" by Picture Polish, "London Eye" by Polished London, "Don't Pretzel My Buttons" by O.P.I., "Jade Is The New Black" by O.P.I., "I Saw... U Saw... We Saw... Warsaw" by O.P.I., "Just A Little Rosti At This" by O.P.I., and multi-chrome flakies from Whats Up Nails.

Miss Priss 2nd Birthday

Yesterday was my indie brand's second birthday! I can't believe it has already been two years since I started selling my polish creations. To celebrate this momentous occasion I have created a special birthday polish which I call "Birthday Cake!" When creating this polish I was feeling the vibes of a little girls second birthday. The result was this pretty pink crelly polish with hot pink, dark purple, and turquoise green matte hex glitters.

I love this cute polish that I created, but the celebrations don't end there! I am also having a sale in my Etsy shop so that everyone can enjoy the savings and celebrate with me! Use the code 2BDAY to get 20% off all orders over $20. I don't plan on ending the celebrations there, I plan on keeping it going all month long! Keep an eye out for other offers, discounts, and competitions!

The Magical Wonders Collection by Miss Priss Polish

The Miss Priss July collection is here! This month we dive into the world of witches and magical powers. I was inspired by watching season three of American Horror Story on Netflix. Each season of American Horror Story has a different story line. Season three is Coven, and is about a group of young witches discovering their powers and fighting for their surviving culture.  I never really thought about the specific powers of witches so as I watched the season it was fascinating to find out about the different magical powers. I did some additional research and thought that it would make a really awesome theme for a new polish collection!

Telekinesis - The ability to manipulate objects with the power of the mind. This is a blue polish with a blue-purple shifting shimmer.

Transmutation - The ability to move instantaneously from one location to another without physically occupying the space in between. Also known as teleportation. This is a green polish with a blue-green shifting shimmer.

Vitalum Vitalis - The balancing of the scales between one life force and another. With this power witches can transfer their own life force to the dead, bringing another back from the brink of death. This power can also drain life from another.  This is a black based polish, but it has a really strong blue-purple shifting shimmer.

Descensum - Descent into the afterlife, projecting themselves into their own hell. The hard part is bring one's self back to the world of the living. This is a pearly white polish with a subtle blue shifting shimmer.

For each of my swatches I used two coats and no top coat. Unfortunately, it was difficult to capture the colour shift of each polish, but they are super pretty!

This collection is now available in my Etsy shop.
